POLYGRAPHS
5.1. Polygraph, equipment cannot distinguish if a person is
telling a lie.
5.2. It measures a persons psychological, physiological and
emotional responses when . certain relevant/irrelevant questions
are asked.
5.3. The Polygraphist at Magnum has been trained by the Institute
of Criminal Justice in Maryland U.S.A.
He conducts a polygraph examination for the following reasons:
• To eliminate a person as a suspect in an investigation.
• To verify a persons employment or personal history.
• To narrow down a list of suspects and to point investigators
in
the right direction.
5.4. Polygraph results are not accepted by our country’s
courts. However admissions, confessions, and other evidence
gathered from the results of polygraph examinations and interviews
are admissible.
5.5. Polygraph equipment, in the hands of a skilled examiner
is a potent investigative tool and when used in conjunction
with other investigative techniques can be a deciding factor
in solving a case.
